Great beer and great food past midnight

Detroit has long ascribed to the work part of the old adage "work hard, play hard", but the play half has been missing as of late... you heard us Ben Gordon, and Rodney Stuckey, and Jason Maxiell, and... Taking that charge and flipping it with elevated food and booze for the late-night masses: One-Eyed Betty's.Answering the prayers of those who crave craft brews and top-notch bar food at 12a on a Tuesday, O-EB's turned the old Cantina Diablo's into a raucous ale den, loading it with communal picnic tables, spacious leather booths, a trifecta of classic pinball machines, a stocked jukebox, and an unfinished beer-cap mural you can contribute to assuming you aren't so hammered they won't give you one to use. With 47 taps backed by 100+ bottles, Betty offers mix & match flights of three or six flavors, including locals like Short's Huma-Lupa-Licious, Atwater Block's Vanilla Java Porter, and Bell's Hopslam, plus immigrant imbibables like Belgium's Silly Pils, Poland's OK, and Unibroue Terrible, which makes more sense when you realize it's from Quebec. The kitchen keeps up with apps including three different oyster preps, grilled sambal-Sriracha wings, and an applewood-smoked bacon & braised belly duo served with a deep-fried poached egg; whole-haddock Obligatory Fish & Chips platters; and "handwiches" from shrimp po' boys to Ridiculously Good Grilled Cheeses, so it's probably a safe bet they aren't made in American.Because craft beers make great craft chasers, they've also got a mammoth selection of brown liquors, and they're even opening early on weekends for beer-fueled brunch, ideal for those who play hard and get pissed tons. Sorry.
