Famed Austin Tex-Mex-ery finally arrives in ATL

Doing more for the community than Trudy Campbell’s boobs is Chuy's, an Austin-based casa de Tex Mex, which tasked the same local artisans who handled the original to design this one, which gets steel palm trees made by a guy they found living on a beach (for reals), an infinity-mirrored Elvis shrine inspired by a painting bought in a shop near the flagship, and 1000 ceiling-dangling wooden fish hand-carved in a Mexican village El Guapo apparently hasn’t heard about and begun terrorizing yet.

All eats employ some incarnation of their housemade tortillas, including apps like queso compuesto (chile con queso w/ seasoned ground sirloin) made with green chile sauce from Chuy's own pepper farm, tacos w/ chicken, beef, fried shrimp, or fish, and 12oz burritos they call "Big As Yo' Face", so if yours is Baby-sized, you'll probably wanna slow-jam it.

Keep the mouth-fiesta going with meat-stuffed/fire-roasted chile rellenos, enchiladas (spicy-cheesy "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" w/ hand-pulled chicken), fajitas w/ 24hr-Shiner Bock-marinated meats, and specialties like the cheddar-smothered Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken breaded with potato chips, much like everything Elvis ate after 1972, including his other potato chips.

Hit the bar covered with framed photos of local ATL dogs for 10oz 'ritas like the chili-flaked New Mexican w/ jalapeño-stuffed olives, especially Mon-Fri from 4-7p for complimentary chips/ queso/ ground sirloin served from the back of a sawed-off purple '58 Bel Air, a Chevy that’s still arguably in better shape than the one on Community.
