Double your pleasure, double your Italian food

Twins present a number of challenges -- from the added expense, to the horrible realization that there're two children you gotta keep quiet during Maury's paternity special -- but the folks behind LaScala decided to have their own fraternal ones regardless: contemporary pizzeria Rocchino's and upscale Italianery Azione, which quietly sit right next to each other, at least for the time being. Meet the new kids

Rocchino's: Roc's morphed the former Paradigm into a contemporary dining room with stripped brick walls and caramel-toned leather booths, in which its slinging big-portioned "small" plates both hot (prosciutto-wrapped shrimp) and cold (roasted beets & goat cheese), coal-fired pizzas like one with octopus, mussels, clams, and crab meat, and pastas including short rib lasagna, which Marilyn Manson boldly had removed...from the table during test dinners! Beers are strong on sessionals, with Dogfish rotations joining Italian-brewed Borgo ReAle Extra, and there's a laundry list of reds & whites that includes a Malbec called "Super Tuscan", aka the guy who refuses to fix your villa's decorative fountain.

Azione: The swanker sibling’s main room is fronted by a polished sandstone bar, wrapped in tufted metallic banquettes, and packed with a bunch of big wood tables they'll plop family-style meals on, from a large shank of lamb to big bowls of noodles like the you-pick-the-sauce calamari & peas, also R. Kelly's idea of every seafood dinner ever. They're sharing beer lines and a wine cellar with Roc, while cocktails are either named for tracks from the management's playlist (Crimson & Clover; the Ketel, St. Germain & pineapple Shine A Light) or offer Old City tributes like the Founding Father, crafted from rye & absinthe -- the same ingredients you realized made you one, now that the test’s SHOCKING RESULTS!!! are in.
