116 craft beers flood Davis Square

The dude behind Five Horses Tavern is opening his bar in the space that formerly housed Sagra, confident that 116 brews, a full bourbon bar, and an eclectic lineup of globally inspired fare will help him succeed where others have failed. Enjoy:The Digs: The totally renovated space rocks an elegant 30-seat hammered copper bar, black leather banquettes, a stone fireplace, and an exposed glass beer cooler, and is highlighted by a giant, hanging, 77 tap-handle "beer star", also an American Idol spinoff where everyone only thinks they're singing well. The Apps: Starters include not you, no matter how hard you showed the coach you hustled "dragon lady"-sauced pork belly tacos w/ pickled red onion, and tequila/ chili/ beer-marinated wings tossed w/ lime. The Entrees: Straight murder a Kentucky-fried Cornish game hen (w/ pork belly-spiked mac n' cheese), a confit smoked chicken play on Japanese Oyakodon (served with broken rice/ pickled vegetables), and thin crust 'zas like an amazing, poached lobster/ pork belly number named Jasper White Is My Hero, so he must have been incredible, as he inspired the guy who put lobster and pork belly on a pizza. The Booze!!!: The aforementioned bourbon bar boasts 40-50 varieties (many of which're mixed into creative seasonal cocktails), plus there're 36 rotating drafts (The Bruery Trade Winds Tripel, Sixpoint Bengali Tiger), and craft labels like Great Divide Hercules and He'Brew Messiah Bold highlighting a lineup of 80 bottles.Photo Credit: William Horne
