A new epic winery in...SOMA?
There is a saying from the Prohibition Era that goes, "No lips that touch wine will ever touch mine", which goes to show you just how lame the sayings were during the Prohibition Era. Allowing mad-local lips to touch wine presumably so you can French them after, Bluxome Street Winery.
From a 4th-gen San Franciscan who, like most 4th-gen San Franciscans, used to make Cabernet in his garage, BSW is a just-opened, fully operational underground winery and tasting room in SOMA, erected (hehe...) inside of an old office building and located within a five-block radius of where 70 wineries once stood pre-1906 earthquake. BSW's grapes're all sourced from vineyards within 100mi of the Bay Area, fermented in French Oak at 53 Bluxome during two months' worth of harvest each year, and turned into actual wine thanks to two temperature-controlled wine cellar-replacing rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows you can peek through to see the invalid wife of Lars Thorwald disappear, prompting you to enlist your wealthy socialite girlfriend and a wise-cracking visiting nurse to help you determine whether she's really left town, as Thorwald insists, or she's been murdered barrels stacked two stories high. On-site drinkables include a Pinot, Blanc, Chard, and Syrah, all available by the bottle, glass, or flight (three reds, three whites, or The Bluxome, a five-taste mix of the two), and served in an Edison-bulb'd, burned wood-walled tasting room with massive Bay windows that'll give you a bird's-eye view of Thorwald grabbing your wealthy socialite girlfriend!! Quick, call the police!! the actual winery production.
And because the winery's only stomping grapes during two of the 12 months, you'll be able to rent out the wine-making floor for private events, when they'll lower overhead pulley'd carboy lights, fire up a hidden catering kitchen, and flip on a diesel ESPN-equipped flatscreen, prompting the new saying, "No lips that touch wine will have a bad view of the Thursday night college football game between University of Central Florida and Alabama-Birmingham".
