19th

Some would argue that draining booze at a course's "19th hole" is as good as golf gets, particularly those who think a wedge is something that garnishes their vodka, and a Mulligan is the guy who puts it there. Giving you said good times without (much of) the golf: 19th.

Swinging into the the former home of a house-heavy dance club, 19th's a subtly links-themed watering hole with grass-green walls and retro-styled golf posters; its wide-open, window-laden main room is anchored by a large oak bar and a tossed-top-collecting, ceiling-mounted trough labeled "Bottle Cap Heaven", proving at least all Red Dogs get to go there. The bar-fare's standard (soft pretzels, nachos, chicken tenders), as're most of the suds (drafts like Sam Adams & Peroni, and ~13 similarly-fave bottles), with the exception of six of VA's Flying Dog Ales in bottles, including Snake Dog IPA, Old Scratch Amber Lager, and In-Heat Wheat Hefeweizen, although almost any beer has the power to get you there. The ample whiskey selection includes five bourbons, five ryes (including Beam's premium R1), and 10 Scotches, anchored by a full Macallan line-up (18 though 25), and a super-pricey, high-tech Macallan ice-ball press (one of only six in the area), which produces perfectly spherical orbs: slower-melting wonders of engineering ensuring only concentrated whiskey enters your own imperfectly spherical orb.

To celebrate the glorious coincidence of a St. Patty's Day grand opening, they'll be serving up $3 pints of Guinness starting at 11am; spend enough time, and you'll leave at least looking like you've got a solid handicap.
