Craft beers, fancy burgers & a 15ft T.V.

They say you can get just about anywhere if you follow your dreams, but that's not completely accurate, as Hakeem Olajuwon is singular, and owned by nobody. For a bar resulting from dreams of beer and burgers, hit up The Joint

Run by a dad/son team who left real estate to chase what they love (rescuing cats food & beer), The Joint's a sports bar with a fancier-than-usual brew/grub set in the vast former Hooligan's space, which they redid with hardwood floors, an old-school-ish wood bar, seven high-defs/a 15ft HD projection, and 24 taps running through a "direct" system, minimizing scummy tubing and enhancing cooling, although they could've also done that by having the taps wear Jams. Creative bar eats include Smoking Tacos w/ BBQ pulled pork, cheese & jalapenos, plus burgers (8oz 80/20 chuck/Angus) like the Latin (Cantimpalo chorizo, Swiss, fried plantains, sweet onions, and chimichurri mayo on a Cuban roll) and one with fried egg, applewood smoked bacon, and cheese on a soft pretzel roll called "The Hangover", which they're not saying has Mike Tyson in it, but you already know it does from the trailers. That beer lineup's heavy on US craft brews, including locals like Jupiter's Monk In The Trunk and Guava Grove Saison (served in wine-size bottles), plus further afield stuff such as NY's Blue Point Rastafa Rye Ale and Delaware's Dogfishead Midas Touch, which's based on a 2,700-year-old recipe derived from King Midas's tomb, a truly incredible discovery, mainly because that dude is totally made-up

Because people hate being skinny, they've also got desserts like Joint Donuts (their version of Thai donuts w/ guava & sweet condensed milk), and also boast special nights, including Mondays for poker and Tuesdays for karaoke, where you can sing Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream", and just think about how awesome that dude's footwork must've been in the 70s.
