Goal

Two heads is better than one, unless you're talking about a threesome, in which case, ew, get back in your car Stephen Baldwin! For two heads put to good use, check out Goal, opening Friday. From the quality duo of Kitchen 24 and BoHo's designer and the dude behind Villa, Goal's a wood-toned sports tavern w/ a massive, arrow-shaped bar, vintage game photos on the wall, and 13 viewable-from-anywhere-in-the-room flatscreens, or just enough to make sure your team's on the one that's unlucky. Food's glammed-up sports bar classics like fresh corn nachos w/ black beans, marinated chicken, crema Mexicana, and pico de gallo; grilled cheese sauteed in butter and served w/ dippable tomato soup, and two burgers: a 4ozer with cheddar, and pickle, and an 8ozer that's stuffed w/ jack cheese, both of which are served with a homemade BBQ mixture they call Pirate Sauce -- so, either way, you're Andy Van Psyched. More game-time grubbery includes a ceviche cocktail w/ citrus-marinated shrimp, crab, tomato, onion, cilantro, cucumber, and jalapeno; a ribeye steak sandwich topped w/ shoestring fries; and a crusty french roll topped w/ ham and mortadella or turkey, plus a "mildly spicy relish," called "The Scooby", 'cause when you peel back the bun, you find out that the actual condiment's always the old dude who runs that spooky amusement park down the street. Though they've got a full bar, they're still working on the cocktail list, which'll be ready in time for the opening -- a God send according to Baldwin, but that dude's just trying to get you loose enough to touch your butt.
