Point yourself North

The dude behind Mas Fina Cantina has updated a dive in ways Greg Louganis only dreamed of, by gutting and reworking the former Mr. Peabody's into The Compass, a brick-heavy rustic gastropub packing a communal table from junkyard lumber, and an L-shaped, wood-trimmed, barn-wood bar.

Improve your social skills with one of 20 craft beers on tap (Flying Dog Raging Bitch, Green Flash Double Stout, Port City Shark Attack West Coast Double Red), wines like the damn-well-better-be Tasti Chardonnay, and a healthy selection of whiskeys including a whopping seven varieties of Jameson, except Fredric, as that Marxist's definitely Red Label'd.

And because a gastropub is just a pub without some serious gastro, they'll whip up alcohol-soakers like bacon-wrapped corndogs, roasted bone marrow with shallot jam/ lemon vinaigrette/ toast, or customizable baked mac, to which you can add crispy pancetta, braised pork cheek, ground beef, or, *shudder*, broccoli.

Patrons can expect half-off wine nights, specialty 'tails of the day, and flight nights for wine and whiskey, too much of which may cause you, too, to take a dive for which others will judge you poorly.
